Our Small Group Tours for 2005

If you are thinking of visiting Japan during 2005 we are sure to have something for you! In 2005 our tours will cover nearly the whole of Japan from the rural north down to the volcanic mountainscapes of Kyushu Island in the South. We have continued to improve our tours from 2004 to make them even better and give you more choice of what to see and do. Our Tokaido Trail and Alpine Highway tours now feature an excursion day from Kyoto allowing you to visit Hiroshima, Himeji, Nara or even the World Expo in Nagoya for no additional charge. We have also introduced a new tour - Hidden Japan - which explores the unspoilt mountains and gorges of the rarely visited hinterlands Shikoku Island.

Spring Elegance - 14 nights £1400 / $2660
Spring Elegance 2005 Spring Elegance is our classic Japan Spring tour. We'll show you the highlights of Tokyo before whisking you off to see the atmospheric towns of the Japan Alps, the charms of Kanazawa and the history and culture of Kyoto. All this is topped off with a stay in Hakone where, if the weather cooperates, we will get great views of the imperious Mt. Fuji. With some great evening meals included and some fantastic accommodation this is truly a tour to savour!

The Tokaido Trail - 9 nights £950 / $1805
Tokaido Trail The Tokaido Trail is our top tour for travellers on a budget and this year we have made it even better, starting and finishing in Tokyo and including an excursion day from Kyoto to Hiroshima, Himeji, Nara, Expo in Nagoya or pretty much anywhere else you want to go! With stops in the former capital of Kamakura and the national park of Hakone this is a great introduction to Japan at an unbeatable price. And if you fancy a longer stay then do not worry - you can add on some extra nights following any itinerary you like. Just ask us for details.

A Northern Soul - 14 nights £1400 / $2660
A Northern Soul If you are looking for a tour of Japan with a difference then A Northern Soul may be for you. This unique tour takes you on a voyage of discovery round the northern hinterlands of Honshu stopping in a secluded hot-spring town, a temple lodging, and visiting the mysterious island of Sado along the way. Gourmet meals are included on most nights giving you a chance to sample some of Japan's best cuisine. Having sold out fast in 2004 we recommend early booking this unique adventure.

Hidden Japan - 12 nights £1350 / $2565
Hidden Japan Shikoku is one of Japan's great unexplored regions; sparsely populated the island is made up of steep mountains and deep valleys with narrow roads twisting their way between remote villages. On this tour we'll explore a little of this hidden region with its hot springs, vine bridges and meandering rivers. Staring and ending in Kyoto you will also have the chance to see some of Japan's top sights. Hidden Japan is a tour sure to charm you either as a first time visitor or if you are returning to explore further.

Essential Honshu The Essential Honshu is our most popular tour - a classic trip through the best that Japan has to offer; the electric cities of Tokyo and Osaka; history and traditional culture in Kyoto, Nara and Kamakura; the great outdoors in the National Parks of Hakone and Kamikochi; and homestyle hospitality in Takayama. There's a wide range of delicious meals included and both Western and traditional style accommodation. Essential Honshu is a great taster of Japan at an unbelievable budget price!

Alpine Highway - 12 nights £1100 / $2090
The Alpine Highway 2005 sees a new improved Alpine Highway. We'll start and finish in Tokyo, the pulsating heart of modern Japan, travelling from there up into the Japan Alps for stops in the mountain towns of Matsumoto and Takayama. We'll spend 4 nights in the heart of the Alps with 2 nights at Norikura Kogen, a beautiful secluded hot spring area and 2 nights in the stunning Kamikochi National Park - a hiker's paradise! New for 2005 we will spend 3 nights in Kyoto with an excursion day to Hiroshima, Nara, Himeji or the Expo in Nagoya. A classic tour with a difference!

Land of the Rising Sun - 13 nights £1595 / $3030
Land of the Rising Sun This special tour led by the Oriental Caravan's Phil Colley will take you from the classic sights of Tokyo down to the volcanic island of Kyushu. Phil's expertise will guarantee you get the most out of this tour which includes stops on the beautiful island of Miyajima, in the hot-spring resort town of Beppu, isolated Miyaji, Nagasaki and finally ending up in the buzzing capital city of Tokyo.
