Autumn Tours 2005

Autumn with its clear skies and warm days is perhaps the best time to visit Japan. As the heat and humidity of the summer recedes the cities spark with renewed energy whereas out in the country the rice harvest begins set against a backdrop of blazing reds, oranges and yellows from the turning leaves of Japan's densely forrested mountains.

Essential Honshu - 14 nights for £1250 / $2375

Honshu has everything that a trip to Japan should include; the bright lights and confusion of Tokyo; Osaka, Japan's fashion and culinary heartland; former capital cities Kyoto, Nara, and Kamakura all with a unique ambience of past and present; the awe-inspiring peaks of the Japan Alps; and Takayama, a fascinating alpine town.

During our Autumn tour you will be able to experience of the best things this season has to offer. The weather in Autumn is usually warm and clear, perfect for our stops in Kamakura and Hakone, where with a bit of luck we'll be treated to fantastic views of the majestic Mt. Fuji. We'll be capping off the trip with two nights of walking and relaxation (and a log-barbeque!)in the Japan Alps - a fitting finale to what is sure to be a tour to remember....

New for 2005Hidden Japan - 12 nights £1350 / $2565

In 2005 we are introducing a new tour which will take you to some of the hidden areas of Japan giving you a real glimpse of a Japan rarely seen by foreign visitors. We'll be starting out from Kyoto and will return there for a final night 11 days later. In between you'll be taken on a voyage of discovery; waking to the chants of Buddhist monks at the mountain top retreat of Mt. Koya; crossing vine bridges across the rivers that wind through the deep gorges of Shikoku; contemplating on the horrors of the atomic attack on Hiroshima.

We'll be sampling a wide range of accommodation including a temple lodging at Mt. Koya with an evening meal of 'Shoujin Ryori' - traditional Buddhist cuisine. Matsuyama will give you the chance to bathe in the oldest bath house in Japan - Dogo Onsen - whereas in Himeji you can explore Japan's best preserved original Samurai castle. This 12 night tour is sure to be a true experience of a lifetime!

Tokaido Trail - 9 nights for £950 / $1805

Our most popular package is a classic 9 taste of Japan and for 2005 we have made this tour even better with three nights in Kyoto, including an excursion day where you can visit Hiroshima, Himeji, Nara or even the World Expo in Nagoya for no extra charge. We'll also be returning to Tokyo for the final night staying in the electric district of Shinjuku with its neon lit boulevards and first class nightlife, dining and shopping!

The imposing city of Tokyo is an intense introduction to modern Japan but from there our stops in Kamakura and Kyoto will give you the chance discover the quiet enchantment of this ancient culture. With two nights relaxing in the beautiful surroundings of the Hakone region, with its natural hotsprings and superb views of the imperious Mt. Fuji, this is a great value Japan adventure perfect for first timers who want to get a real flavour of this amazing country.

The 2005 Alpine Highway will bring to you some of the most stunning mountain scenery in all of Japan at probably th ebest time of year to visit. Starting out in Tokyo we'll move from the hussle, bussle and bright lights of the capital to the lazy Alpine town of Matsumoto before being transported into the heart of the mountains for 4 nights of crisp, clear air and breathtaking vistas.

Experience the contrast of traditional and modern with several nights in a Ryokan including a stop in the fascinating market town of Takayama. This year we'll spend 3 nights Kyoto with its calm temples and beautiful shrines including an excursion day to the destination of your choice before returning to Tokyo for a final night in the buzzing capital.
