Japan - a top destination for winter sports

Many people simply do not realise that Japan is one of the World’s best destinations for skiing and boarding holidays but for those that do a real treat is in store as they hit the slopes in some of the finest conditions to be found anywhere in the World. Nagano, in the Japan Alps, played host to the 1998 Winter Olympics, whilst Niseko on Japan's northern-most island of Hokaido, has a well deserved reputation for some of the best powder snow on the face of the planet.

We can assist you in planning a trip to Japan that focuses either exclusively on time at a top ski resort or one that combines the best that Japan has to offer with some great skiing and boarding. It is entirely up to you. All our packages are tailored to your individual requests and needs so just let us know exactly what is you want from your winter sports trip to Japan and we’ll do the rest.

NISEKO - HOKKAIDO

Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island boasts some of the finest skiing and snow-boarding conditions in the world. Clear skies, uncrowded slopes and, most important of all, fresh powder falls everyday. Niseko, located on the western coast of the island is Japan's premium ski and snow-board resort and is renowned for fantastic powder snow. It is the largest of Hokkaido's ski areas with 3 inter-linked world-class resorts, Annapuri, Hirafu and Higashiyama, and some 47 kilometres of slopes with many kilometre plus runs.

Niseko offers spectacular skiing and snow boarding opportunities to the novice, intermediate or expert, all backed up by an English speaking support team based at the resort.

Boasting uncrowded conditions and a great village atmosphere to rival that of any European resort, Niseko provides the perfect base for your Japanese winter adventure. And of course, after a hard day on the slopes you'll be able to relax in one of the open-air hot spring baths and gaze up at the stars! HAKUBA - NAGANO

Hakuba is located in the heart of the Japan Alps and was an important venue for the 1998 Winter Olympic Games hosting the men's and women's downhill, giant slalom and ski jumping events. Surrounded by fabulous mountain scenery this is a great base from which to explore the area's ski and snow-boarding resorts. And boarders needn't worry, all slopes are open to you.

As you would expect, this world class winter sports area offers a rich variety of terrain to entice and satisfy skiers and snow-boarders of all standards. With 5km plus runs, plenty of powder snow and snow parks for snow-boarders we're sure you'll be impressed.

Accommodation in Hakuba

All the accommodation we offer in Hakuba is Western style, with resort hotels ranging from decent 3 star up to luxurious 5 star for that extra special winter break. The hotels are all just minutes’ walk from the nearest lifts making this truly 'ski in, ski out' accommodation. The hotel food is excellent with breakfast and dinner included everyday. No lengthy bus journeys just to get up on the mountain as can happen so often at crowded European resorts.

And at night you can ski the short distance down the mountain to the resort 'onsen' complete with outside natural hot spring bath - relax in the soothing waters and let the aches and strains of a day on the slopes drain away.

Prices for a week in Hakuba start from as little as £498 / $846 including breakfast and dinner everyday and return rail transfers from Tokyo. Full on the ground support is provided by our partners at the resorts so should you need any assistance you know help is never far away.

As well as the resorts featured above me can book trips for you to resorts all over Japan so if the vast expanses of Shiga Kogen (the World’s largest ski resort area) appeal to you or perhaps a smaller resort in the prefecture of Gifu we can always be of assistance.
